About Golden Prairie
We at Golden Prairie Veterinary Services are your locally owned and operated large animal mobile veterinary clinic. Our practice takes pride in providing top quality veterinary care to fit your needs and budget. We support you in your goals to keep your animals healthy, happy, and productive. As a mobile clinic all procedures are performed on farm. Regular business hours are offered for routine procedures but we are always available for emergencies.
Our Team
Dr. Kristy Oatway, DVM
Veterinarian & Practice Owner
Kristy grew up on a small purebred cattle operation in Northwest Alberta and was actively involved in 4-H & showing cattle on the local purebred show circuit. She attended veterinary school at the University of Calgary graduating in 2016. She first practiced in Central Alberta working on beef cattle and horses before moving to Southern Alberta in 2018. She is passionate about providing the best possible care to farm animals of all sizes from the smallest newborn goat kids to the largest draft horses. She and her husband live in Coaldale with their two golden retrievers- Cooper and Aspen. Outside of work Kristy enjoys getting out to the mountains to ski and hike, curling up with a good book and traveling to new places.
David Gilfoy, MBA
Accounting Manager & Practice Owner
David was born and raised in rural Nova Scotia and grew up involved in 4-H and working on a dairy farm. He earned an Agricultural Business degree at Dalhousie University as well as an MBA specializing in Agri-business at the University of Guelph. After graduation, he moved to Alberta to begin his career in Agricultural Finance and then moved on to his current position as the Controller for a large farming operation in Southern Alberta and West Central Saskatchewan. David can be found at Golden Prairie helping out with after hours emergencies and keeping the books in order! Outside of his day job, he can often be found at the rink officiating hockey games in the WHL or mentoring younger officials. In the summer he enjoys camping with Kristy and their two dogs.
